Apple testing Chinese DRAM chips

Apple has begun testing memory chips from ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) for devices sold in China. The company is currently the world’s fourth-largest DRAM producer, holding roughly 11% of global wafer capacity.

Apple is also leading a lobbying effort among US tech firms to secure government approval for broader use of CXMT products. The chipmaker remains on the Pentagon’s list of Chinese military companies, creating significant political and reputational hurdles.
