OpenAI is killing its stand-alone browser, Atlas.

The company announced it will sunset the browser on August 9. OpenAI plans to integrate the technology and browsing capabilities developed through Atlas into its existing desktop application and other product suites.

Developer James Sun confirmed the move, noting that insights gained from Atlas users will inform future agent-based browsing features. OpenAI is shifting focus away from this browser project to prioritize its core AI technology.
