EV batteries are lasting longer than expected

l-intro-1784205766

New data from Recurrent shows that the average electric vehicle retains 95% of its original range after five years on the road. While early models faced significant degradation, modern battery chemistry, thermal management, and software have drastically improved longevity.

For EVs built since 2022, only 0.3% have required a battery replacement. Current degradation averages about 2.3% per year, suggesting many packs could remain functional for two decades or more.
