EU Targets TikTok Over Minor Safety

The European Commission has issued preliminary findings claiming TikTok fails to protect minors under the Digital Services Act. Regulators argue that default settings expose children to unwanted contact, cyberbullying, and predatory behavior by allowing accounts to be set to public.

TikTok now faces potential fines of up to 6% of its global annual revenue. The Commission specifically criticized the platform for algorithmically recommending content from minor accounts in its For You feed.
