EU Designates ChatGPT, Reddit, and Roblox Under DSA

The European Commission has officially designated ChatGPT as a Very Large Online Search Engine, while Reddit and Roblox are now classified as Very Large Online Platforms. Each service reported reaching at least 45 million average monthly users within the European Union, triggering these regulatory requirements.

These platforms have four months to comply with Digital Services Act obligations, including independent audits and systemic risk assessments. Non-compliance can result in fines up to 6% of global annual turnover.
