EU Proposes Kids Act to Restrict Online Access

The European Commission has introduced the EU Kids Act, a proposal to ban social media access for children under 13. Under the draft rules, children aged 13 and 14 would require parent-managed accounts with daily usage capped at one hour. Autonomous social media accounts would only be permitted for users aged 15 and older.

The legislation mandates that platforms disable addictive features and AI chatbots for minors, with potential non-compliance fines reaching 6% of global annual revenue.
