California Launches AI Job Loss Tracker
California has debuted the first-in-the-nation public dashboard to monitor AI-related workforce impacts. Developed with the California Policy Lab and the state’s Employment Development Department, the tool cross-references unemployment insurance claims with AI exposure metrics.
While initial data shows no statewide surge in AI-driven layoffs, the tracker identifies localized increases in claims among college-educated workers in high-exposure roles, particularly within the San Francisco Bay Area and tech-adjacent sectors. The dashboard will update monthly.
