Apple Seeks Approval for Blacklisted Chip Supplier
Apple is lobbying the Trump administration for permission to purchase memory chips from ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT). The Chinese manufacturer is currently on the Pentagon’s 1260H list due to alleged ties to the Chinese military.
The company is pursuing this deal to mitigate rising memory chip costs that have forced recent price hikes across its Mac, iPad, and Vision Pro lineups. Apple previously approached the Commerce Department regarding the potential partnership.
