Anthropic Launches Claude Sonnet 5

Anthropic has released Claude Sonnet 5, its latest model designed for autonomous agentic tasks. The model can plan, use browsers and terminals, and perform complex multi-step operations. It offers performance levels approaching the higher-end Opus 4.8 model but at a lower price point.

Available now across all plans, the model is the new default for Free and Pro users. API pricing is set at $2 per million input tokens until September.
