Tesla Driver Charged With Manslaughter
Texas authorities charged 44-year-old Michael Butler with manslaughter following a June crash where his Tesla Model 3 struck a home, killing a 76-year-old woman. Investigators allege Butler overrode the vehicle’s Full Self-Driving software by pressing the accelerator to 100% before the collision.
Data and search history revealed Butler had been conducting DoorDash deliveries and previously searched for ways to make FSD more aggressive. He remains in jail on a $150,000 bond.
