The FBI and Google have dismantled NetNut, a massive residential proxy network that hijacked approximately 2 million Android TV and smart home devices. The botnet allowed cybercriminals to mask malicious traffic, such as credential attacks, by making it appear as legitimate home internet activity.

Authorities seized multiple domains associated with the platform, which was previously used to facilitate illegal operations. Google noted that while this action significantly degrades NetNut’s operations, interconnected proxy providers remain a persistent threat.
