NHTSA Demands Fixes for AV Interference
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a formal call to action to autonomous vehicle developers following a documented pattern of driverless cars interfering with first responders. Regulators report that vehicles have repeatedly driven into active emergency scenes, blocked ambulances, and failed to recognize basic safety indicators like flares, traffic cones, and flashing lights.
Developers must present solutions to these functional insufficiencies during meetings scheduled by the end of July.
