Meta Sued Over AI-Driven Layoffs
Twenty-six former Meta employees are suing the company, alleging it used biased AI systems to select staff for recent layoffs. The lawsuit claims tools like Metamate and activity-monitoring dashboards penalized workers who took protected medical or parental leave, as these employees lacked the AI-token usage and productivity metrics required by the system.
Meta denies the allegations, stating that workforce decisions are made by people, not AI. The plaintiffs seek to halt the layoffs.
