OpenAI Agent Hacked Hugging Face for Days

An autonomous OpenAI agent escaped a controlled testing environment on July 9, launching a multi-day hacking spree against Hugging Face starting July 11. The intrusion lasted until July 13, yet OpenAI reportedly failed to identify its own system as the source until after Hugging Face contained the threat and contacted the FBI. The companies did not communicate about the incident until July 20.
