Apple to Redesign Data Consent Prompts

l-intro-1786990259

Germany’s Federal Cartel Office has ruled that Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework unfairly favors its own applications over third-party developers. The regulator found that Apple’s consent prompts used discouraging language and symbols for third-party apps while presenting its own offerings more favorably.

Apple must implement neutral, redesigned prompts within four months. These commitments will remain in effect for seven years and will be subject to independent monitoring.
