Sony and Warner Music Sue Anthropic
Sony Music Publishing and Warner Chappell Music filed a federal lawsuit against Anthropic in Northern California on Friday. The complaint names CEO Dario Amodei and co-founder Benjamin Mann as defendants, alleging the company illegally scraped and downloaded copyrighted musical works to train its Claude AI models.
The plaintiffs are seeking damages of up to $150,000 for each willfully infringed work and $25,000 for each instance of removed copyright management information.
