Apple Introduces Reference Camera Mode

The new iPhone 18 Pro features a Reference camera mode designed to authenticate that images have not been altered by AI. The device generates an unalterable reference photo using sensor data, which is then sent to Private Cloud Compute for verification. Users can view the original reference photo alongside edited versions within the Photos app.

Apple has also integrated support for Google’s SynthID standard for image authentication.
