EU Proposes Data Center Efficiency Labels

The European Commission has introduced a rating scheme requiring data centers with a capacity above 500 kW to disclose energy and water efficiency metrics. Facilities will receive an A-to-G label based on resource usage, with data generated through a centralized database. Operators must also report how water consumption relates to local stress levels and whether they repurpose waste heat.

The first labels are expected to appear in 2027.
