Anthropic and OpenAI Release Lower-Cost AI Models

Anthropic has launched Claude Opus 5.5, a model designed to reduce operating costs by approximately 40 percent compared to its predecessor, Opus 5. The company reports that the new model matches the performance of its Fable 5.1 model while improving alignment and security benchmarks.

OpenAI simultaneously introduced GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna, which are priced 50 percent lower than previous GPT-5.6 models. These new additions to the GPT-6 lineup are designed to increase efficiency for business and developer workflows.
