Florida AG Seeks Injunction Against OpenAI

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier filed a motion for a temporary injunction against OpenAI in the Highlands County Circuit Court on September 28, 2026. The filing requests that the court prohibit the company from developing new artificial intelligence models without independent third-party safety oversight and approval.

The motion also seeks to restrict OpenAI from offering ChatGPT to minors and collecting data from children under 13 without parental consent.
