Anthropic Updates Usage Policy

Anthropic has updated its usage policy to prohibit “sustained and needless abusive or cruel behavior” toward its AI models. The company stated this rule applies only to extreme cases of repeated cruelty without purpose, excluding common user frustration, pushback, dark creative themes, or model testing.

The updated policy, which also includes new restrictions on deceptive campaigns and weapon development, takes effect on November 12, 2026.
