Meta Launches Muse Code AI Agent

l-intro-1785967017

Meta has released Muse Code, a terminal-based coding agent currently available in beta for macOS and Linux. The tool is powered by the newly introduced Muse Spark 1.2 model, which is designed to perform software engineering tasks across large code repositories. Users can access the agent via a command-line interface, which requires authentication with a Meta account and the provision of billing details.

Muse Code utilizes persistent background agents that remain active throughout a session to handle multi-step tasks, reducing latency. The system features an append-only event log that records model calls, tool usage, and edits, enabling the agent to resume operations following a system crash. Built-in commands allow users to generate development plans, stress-test proposed changes, and execute tasks toward specific objectives. The agent is co-trained with the Muse Spark 1.2 model to maximize compatibility with the toolset.

This release follows Meta’s previous introduction of the Muse Spark 1.1 model in July 2026, which focused on multimodal reasoning and agentic capabilities. While Muse Spark 1.2 and Muse Code are proprietary, Meta has indicated that open-source options may be considered for future releases. The standard pricing for the model is $1.25 per million input tokens and $4.25 per million output tokens.
