FCC Proposes Retroactive Ban on LiDAR Drones
The Federal Communications Commission has issued a public notice proposing to prohibit the import and sale of foreign-made drones previously approved for the U.S. market. The agency aims to restrict models categorized as military-grade, specifically targeting those equipped with LiDAR sensing, thermal imaging, or aerosol dispensing capabilities.
The proposal remains open for public comment until September 2, 2026.
