NASA successfully launched the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope on August 30, 2026, aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket from Kennedy Space Center. The $4.3 billion observatory is traveling to Lagrange Point 2, located one million miles from Earth, to study dark matter, dark energy, and exoplanets.

The telescope separated from the launch vehicle 31 minutes after liftoff and successfully deployed its solar panels. The mission is planned for a five-year duration.
