Sony Argues Digital Game Purchases Are Not Ownership

Sony stated in a California court that reasonable consumers understand digital game purchases do not convey ownership. The company argued that users obtain a revocable license to play games rather than owning the content, disputing claims in a class-action lawsuit filed on June 18.

The lawsuit alleges Sony fails to clearly disclose that digital transactions do not grant ownership. Sony filed its response to these accusations on August 21.
