The Trump administration filed a statement of interest in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York supporting OpenAI. The government argues that requiring AI companies to pay for content used in model training could hinder domestic AI development, limit competition, and negatively impact national security by providing advantages to foreign adversaries.
The filing relates to ongoing lawsuits, including those initiated by The New York Times and Ziff Davis.
