New AI Model Releases Across Major Tech Firms
Toronto, Canada - May 9, 2025: AI assistant apps on a smartphone - OpenAI ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, DeepSeek, Meta AI, and xAI Grok.
OpenAI, Anthropic, Meta, and Google have all introduced new artificial intelligence models this week. OpenAI launched GPT-6 Astra, while Anthropic released updates to its Fable and Mythos models. Meta introduced Muse Spark 1.3, and Google debuted Gemini 3.8 Flash and 3.8 Flash Cyber. These releases emphasize advancements in agentic AI workflows, coding capabilities, and cybersecurity applications.
OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra is currently available to Daybreak program participants, with a broader rollout to Plus, Pro, and Business users scheduled for the coming days. Anthropic’s Fable 5.1 and Mythos 5.1 models are designed for coding and long-running problem-solving, with Fable 5.1 accessible to the general public. Meta’s Muse Spark 1.3 is available via Muse Code and the company’s Model API, featuring improved reasoning and collaborative prompting. Google’s Gemini 3.8 Flash is available across enterprise and consumer products, while the 3.8 Flash Cyber variant is restricted to participants of the Fairwind Program.
The industry-wide focus on agentic workflows follows previous model iterations, including the July release of ChatGPT 5.6 and the August 13 launch of Gemini 3.7 Flash. Ziff Davis, the parent company of CNET, filed a lawsuit against OpenAI in 2025 alleging copyright infringement in the training and operation of its AI systems.
