OpenAI launches Patch the Planet to fix open-source bugs

OpenAI is expanding its Daybreak cybersecurity initiative with a new program called Patch the Planet. Partnering with Trail of Bits, the project uses the GPT-5.5-Cyber model and human security researchers to help maintainers identify and patch vulnerabilities in open-source software.

Initial participants include cURL, Python, and the Go project. The initiative aims to reduce the burden on maintainers by validating findings and developing actual patches rather than just generating reports.
