Honda Partners with QuantumScape for Solid-State Batteries

Honda R&D has signed a multiyear joint research agreement with QuantumScape to develop and manufacture solid-state battery cells. The deal follows Honda’s evaluation of the company’s technology, which aims to improve electric vehicle range, charging speed, and safety.

QuantumScape is currently producing its QSE-5 solid-state cell samples at its pilot facility in San Jose. This partnership arrives as Honda shifts its near-term strategy to prioritize hybrids over an all-electric lineup.
