EU Eyes Social Media Restrictions for Minors

The European Commission is moving toward a bloc-wide social media ban for children under 13, following expert recommendations. The proposal suggests supervised access for ages 3 to 12 and restricted, safer platform features for teens aged 13 to 18.

Commission president Ursula von der Leyen plans to formalize these rules by September. The initiative aims to curb compulsive usage and protect minors from harmful algorithmic content across the 27-nation bloc.
