Lucid Gravity Robotaxi Testing

LUCID_NURO_UBER

Uber, Lucid Motors, and Nuro are collaborating on the development of the Lucid Gravity robotaxi. The companies are currently conducting engineering prototype tests on public roads in the San Francisco Bay Area and Houston, utilizing safety operators behind the wheel. The service is intended to be integrated into the Uber application for public use.

The vehicle features a sensor suite comprising cameras, lidar, and radar. It is designed to accommodate up to six passengers, exceeding the four-passenger capacity of other autonomous vehicle offerings. Lucid manufactures the vehicles at its Arizona factory, while Nuro provides the autonomous driving technology and Uber manages the marketplace logistics and in-app experience.

Testing currently involves closed-course simulations and public road operations with safety drivers. The partnership is scheduled to launch in the San Francisco Bay Area later this year and in Houston in mid-2027.
