Google Open-Sources WeatherNext AI Model

Google has released its WeatherNext AI model as an open-source tool for meteorological agencies and researchers. The system is designed to provide 15-day forecasts for tropical cyclone paths and intensity. It aims to support human forecasters by offering rapid predictions that complement traditional physics-based atmospheric simulations.

The model is currently accessible through the Weather Lab platform for public preview. The project follows performance data from the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season.
