OpenAI Developing Portable Smart Speaker

OpenAI is reportedly developing a battery-powered, doughnut-shaped smart speaker designed in collaboration with Jony Ive’s firm, LoveFrom. The device is approximately the size of a hockey puck and features a camera system, environmental sensors, and moving parts intended to indicate active listening and interaction. It does not include a display.

The hardware is currently scheduled for a 2027 release with a projected retail price between $300 and $400.
