Meta Reaches Settlement in Youth Safety Lawsuit

Meta has agreed to pay up to $17.1 billion to resolve claims from a coalition of U.S. states alleging the company designed Facebook and Instagram to be addictive to young users. The settlement, which does not include an admission of wrongdoing, requires Meta to implement daily usage limits, nighttime access blocks, and stricter parental controls for teenage accounts.

The agreement covers 47 states and several territories, with the total payout reaching $17.1 billion.
