OpenAI Updates ChatGPT Chrome Extension

OpenAI updated its ChatGPT extension for Google Chrome on October 15, 2026, enabling the AI to access and interact with open browser tabs. The update introduces two distinct modes: Chat, which reads open tabs to provide context for queries, and Work, which allows the assistant to perform tasks such as filling out forms, sending messages, downloading files, and organizing tabs.

The extension is compatible with Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave, Opera, and Vivaldi.
