Electronic Arts (EA) has officially completed its $55 billion acquisition by an investor consortium led by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), alongside Silver Lake and Affinity Partners. The transaction, which concluded on August 4, 2026, marks the end of the publisher’s more than 30-year tenure as a publicly traded company. Following the finalization of the deal, EA has been delisted from the Nasdaq stock exchange and will now operate as a privately held entity.

The acquisition is structured as a leveraged buyout, with the company assuming $20 billion in debt as part of the financing arrangement. The PIF holds a super-majority stake of approximately 93.4% in the organization. Despite the change in ownership, Andrew Wilson will continue to serve as the Chief Executive Officer, and the company will maintain its headquarters in Redwood City, California. The consortium received necessary regulatory clearances, including approval from the European Commission, prior to the closing date.

The deal was originally announced in September 2025 and required various international regulatory approvals before moving forward. The company had been a publicly listed business for 37 years prior to this transition. The total value of the transaction is $55 billion.
