Judge Orders Google to Simplify Alternative App Store Installs

l-intro-1786732569

U.S. District Judge James Donato has ordered Google to remove “anticompetitive friction” from the Android app installation process. The ruling requires Google to make third-party app stores easier to find in search results and replace “view” buttons with direct “install” options for these stores.

Google must implement these changes within one week, with a deadline of August 20.
