Alibaba AI Models Approved for Apple Devices in China

China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has granted regulatory approval for the integration of Alibaba’s Tongyi Qianwen and Tongyi Wanxiang AI models into Apple handsets. The updated network access permits cover the iPhone Duo, iPhone 18 Pro, and several earlier models, facilitating the deployment of Apple Intelligence features within the Chinese market.

Apple plans to launch these AI capabilities in China this December via the iOS 27.3 update.
